So How Did We Get Here: Viewfinder
Viewfinder is the solo project and brainchild of Joel Burton. Having spent some time in a noise-rock outfit based in Edinburgh, Burton formed the recording project when he moved back to London. Currently under Brighton-based record label Memorials of Distinction, Burton is already making a name for himself with his brand of slacker-rock / lo-fi music.
The musician released his new album ‘Born Ticking’ back in March which has garnered rave reviews including a solid 8/10 from Loud and Quiet Magazine. According to the label's description, Burton returned to London "disillusioned" after disbanding his noise-rock band and dropping out of university. The album sees Burton's journey of re-discovery, resulting in a collection of his "love of alt-country, post-punk, minimalist classical, jazz and the golden eras of both 90s indie rockers and 60s songwriters." You can purchase the album via Memorials of Distinction here.
Ahead of his show at The Montague Arms, Burton was kind enough to make us a playlist to get in the mood for his headline set at the Southeast London venue this Thursday, 19 October.
